What is the Sumo Robotics Competition (Arab Robotics & AI Association)

It is one of the main contest categories in the Arab Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Championship. “Sumo” in this context means robot vs. robot in a ring (arena), trying to push each other out of the ring, similar in spirit to human sumo wrestling.

There are usually two levels/categories: beginner and advanced. This allows teams with different experience or age/skill levels to compete more fairly.


There are also side awards such as best strategy, best programming, best design, etc., in the sumo competition. So the judging is not only about winning matches but also about robot craftsmanship, programming, design elegance and strategy
